Sukkerbiten Feriekoloni

Visual identity, wayfinding and packaging

Visual identity for Sukkerbiten Feriekoloni, (The Sugar Cube), a restaurant, bar and club concept in the seaport of Oslo, only open during the summer. Sukkerbiten is a joint operation by five different restaurants and clubs in Oslo.

I wanted the identity to reflect summer with sunsets and warmth. The logo portraits a sun that moves simultaneously with the summer months. Each bar has its own logo to better identify and separate the different concepts.

Made at Westerdals, spring of 2013.

Custom Sugar — A custom typeface based on Optima was made for the identity.

Icons based on patterns from old boat sails, to emphasize the location.

We were also approached to make wayfinding. My concept is inspired by an Norwegian expression called "Tampen brenner". The closer you get, the warmer it gets. I chose to make a thermometer where the temperature tells you how close you are.

Packaging made for Bacalao and French bread with seasalt.
